Mission Statement
Union "Green Way" is the popular movement aiming to build an ecologically and
socially sustainable society, to protect human and ethno-cultural environment
according to the principles of sustainable development, to extract technocratic
and utilitarian treatment towards nature, to establish ecologically safe technologies.
Short History
Green Way was first initiated in 1998 at the International Association
of Young Diplomats (IAYD) to achieve above goals and was acting as a thematic
group. During its existence within IAYD the Green Way has realized different
projects aiming to involve youth in environmental activities and raise environmental
awareness of public. Among them it should be noticed:
- Eco-camps in Gorda and Kvereti in 1998-2000
- Clean-up actions in 1998-2001
- International action "Clean Up the World" with coordination
by "Clean Up the World International". 2002
- International Internet Exhibition and Competition of Children"s Art Works
and Photographs "Nature - My Home". 2002
- Workshop "Ecotourism and Georgia -Reality and Perspectives".

- International action "Clean Up the World" with coordination

- "Clean Up Mtkvari Coast" in collaboration with the Greens Movement
of Georgia and Young Biologists' Association "Bio-Rhythm".

In 2004 it was registered as an independent organization. Today it is the member
of several local and international organizations and networks.
Goals:
- Protection of natural resources
- Public environmental awareness raising
- Promotion of relations between environmental organizations
- Promotion of environmentally safe technologies
- Promotion of implementation of international and national environmental
agreements and their monitoring
- Participation in international and national environmental programs
- Professional improvement of youth in environmental issues
- Involvement of youth in environmental activities
Main areas of work:
- Improvement of environmental legislation in Georgia
- Extraction of environmental damage
- Public expertise of different projects and plans
- Environmental education and awareness raising
- Public participation in environmental decision making
- Involvement of population, especially of young generations in environmental
activities
- Mobilization of wide ranges of population for solution of environmental
problems
Main forms of activities:
- Establishment of educational, scientific, creative and charitable centers
and clubs
- Organization of international events, youth eco-camps, seminars, student
conferences, exhibitions etc.
- Dissemination of environmental information through its own periodical and
mass-media
- Establishment of contacts with local and international organizations and
networks
- Organization of practical actions with participation of youth (clean-ups,
tree plantings etc.).
